Working through creative block...

The past couple of weeks, I’ve had the fortune of going back to work full-time; while that’s good in a way, maybe a bit of normalcy will be ok, despite not being out of the woods with respect to the pandemic. With a new schedule to work, I now have to organize a new art schedule and find ways to express the ideas for art that I have, as well as how to form new ideas for further work…

One thing I find important to do is to still sketch everyday. Even just a little. Even if it’s a silly or stupid idea!

Within all of the inspirations I enjoy sketching, I hope to notice a pattern of the different motifs that I like to use in creating visual art. It could be eyes, leaves, certain animals, etc…

I also use a pinterest board for photographs that I like, that create an interesting mood with its colors. I then place the images in Illustrator and create a custom color palette to then use in a piece in order to help create the mood.

I also find it very helpful to keep visual boards of lists of different moods, emotions, and different adjectives. I can then choose from those regarding what I’d like to create and choose which of my favorite motifs I’d like to use, even as small details.

Still working ideas for (up to) four Twin Peaks pieces, damask surface patterns for wallpaper or fabric, forests of neurons, and interesting non-English words for complex, layered emotions…

More coming soon, and feel free to send requests for commissions. <3
